Byldis still up & running!

We’ve been keeping busy. We too, all employees at Byldis, are working hard during the COVID-19 crisis. At home, in the factories in Veldhoven or Tilburg or on site. Following the RIVM guidelines, of course. Despite COVID-19 we are still operational and delivering optimal quality.

Still working during COVID-19? What does this mean for our employees working in the factories in Veldhoven and/or Tilburg? Byldis colleague Piet-Hein Rutjes from the insulation sawmill in Veldhoven talks about working during COVID-19 and the safety measures taken.

What does your job (normally) entail?
“All activities at the insulation sawmill, such as sawing the insulation material to size according to the drawings for the elements that are poured in the production halls.”

What has changed in your working activities / job due to the newly implemented COVID-19 measures?

“My work can continue pretty much as normal as I usually work alone in the department. But there is extra attention for the COVID-19 measures, such as keeping your distance and hygiene. The changes include:

• I only use my own pen to sign the shipping documents when unloading insulation material from the delivery trucks and always keep my distance.
• Hand tools are cleaned after use.
• The break times have been changed and divided into groups so that fewer colleagues take a break at the same time. There is more space between the tables in the canteen and the tables are cleaned between break times. This makes the atmosphere less welcoming.”

How do you / your colleagues deal with this?

“Most colleagues are positive about it and are aware of the new measures. If someone accidentally breaks the rules, we just talk to them about it. Colleagues keep an eye on each other when it comes to cold symptoms.”
