1. The project: Mosque El-Fath Lansingerland

By day, Islamic cultural centre Lansingerland (ICCL) looks like a sturdy block of concrete, perfectly fitting into the primeval Dutch landscape near Bergschenhoek. At night, this same building transforms into a kind of thousand-and-one-night starlight! This is due to the unusual building envelope, which is composed of a large number of concrete decorative elements. The star-shaped patterns in these elements are partly openwork, allowing the internal lamp light to mysteriously find its way out.

2. Byldis contribution to this project

Byldis realised the outer shell and assembly.

3. Why was Byldis chosen?

The external façade needed a robust frontage. The architect felt it could be made with concrete and, in addition, quality was also very important.

4. Challenges & solutions

The pattern of the facade which had to be reflected in a number of moulds. It was a challenge to get the pattern the same in the moulds as well as the dimensions.
