About ESS Lund in Sweden

ESS Lund, a multidisciplinary research facility, will become the most powerful neutron source in the world. Byldis started work for ESS Lund in Sweden in 2019 and will produce, supply and install various kinds of precast concrete elements for the project. Dycore

Dycore is a producer and supplier of precast concrete system floors. The company is supplying approx. 3,200 m² of hollow core slab flooring in varying thicknesses to ESS Lund in Sweden. The elements are all produced complete with four hoisting loops per sheet.

Transport over land, sea and rail

Dycore explains: “Transport from our production location in Oosterhout to Lund is provided by Trimodal Europe BV. Dycore installs the hollow core slab flooring on a flat rack. The flat racks are then transported to Moerdijk by lorry. The flats are then sent by rail from the rail terminal in Moerdijk to Lubeck, and subsequently transported by ferry to Malmö. The flats are collected from Malmö in a sideloader.”
This project is a real logistical challenge, as Dycore calls it.
