Project Kew Bridge - Verdo is an “Offsite SECBE Award 2021” finalist!
Phase 2 known as Verdo is 20,000m2 of apartments created using a masonry and sandwich façade system designed and manufactured by Byldis. The offsite manufacturing processes are extended further than the façade and includes internal walls, stairs and landings and precast floors. All produced utilising BIM.
The challenge for the project included changing building fire regulations, and using European based contractors. Byldis adapted their processes and materials to create new solutions which are NHBC approved.
The highest block (Block I) was running at 6 days per level. This produced a finished 13 story building in about 4 months. All 3 blocks are to be erected on time as per programme despite Brexit and Covid-19 pandemic occurring in the middle of the build.
The elements were delivered complete with aluminium frames and glazing. Byldis also produced, assembled and supplied the internal walls, stairs and landings and the precast floors. The sandwichelements are provided with frames and glazing in the factories. During assembly on the construction site, the vertical and horizontal seams between the elements ensure a wind and watertight facade.
